Recap: Grow With Flavor: Youth Garden Day
On April 25, 2026, our very first Grow With Flavor: Youth Garden Day was a wonderful success, and we are incredibly grateful to all of the families, youth participants, supporters, and community partners who helped make it possible.
Hosted by Flavored Fitness Foundation at Sandtown Center, this hands-on experience gave local youth the opportunity to learn the basics of gardening in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. Participants learned how to plant vegetables and herbs, explored the importance of caring for growing plants, and left with their own container gardens to continue nurturing at home.
We were honored to have Wanda Bradley of Black Rose Florist & Nursery LLC serve as our instructor. Wanda brought her gardening expertise, passion, and patience to the event, helping the children feel comfortable, excited, and confident throughout the day.
The event was filled with learning, laughter, games, and community connection. It was inspiring to watch the youth start the day shy and quickly grow more engaged as they planted, asked questions, and proudly showed off their new gardens.
Most importantly, Youth Garden Day was about more than planting seeds. It was about planting confidence, responsibility, healthy habits, and curiosity in our youth.
This successful first event confirmed what we already believe: our community values opportunities that empower children through hands-on learning and positive experiences.
We look forward to hosting future youth programs and our next gardening event soon.
Thank you for growing with us.
